Best Day Ever

YESTERDAY---- I spent the entire day being up at the Capitol building and getting trained about how best to talk with our state legislators related to the issues that we as young people who have disabilities want to have addressed & hopefully taken care of in the near future. I am grateful for everything that I have been able to participate in and see myself getting involved with, has really been nothing short of a dream come true!!!

Later in the afternoon----We all headed down into the Capitol Rotunda and spend the rest of our day listening to people with disabilities share their messages about standing up for what they believe in-- etc. It was really hard to listen to all of the speakers, due to the fact sound echoed almost everywhere and I'll admit it made me proud to know self advocates were letting people know what was important to them. I legitimately had the absolute best time of my life spending time with the best people ever-- and getting to advocate for people with disabilities is something that I am truly passionate about more than anything in this world.

Favorite Highlight:

I always love getting to spend time with some of the most amazing people who work at the other independent living centers throughout our state!!! They are definitely more just my friends, but also like a second family to me who are always there to motivate and give me encouragement to help me follow my dreams, no matter what they are!!! I am incredibly grateful for their examples to me of what it truly means to speak up for yourself and just be as professional as I can to have my voice heard--(which to me is a little bit tough in one way or another because a lot of what is being talked about is stuff I don't know too much information on.)

I would easily love to admit that I continuously share an overwhelming sense of love to these legit people who don't fail to bring a smile to my face whenever we run into each other!!! I am so grateful for their dedication into making sure that we are doing whatever it takes to live an independent lifestyle and even though it is a little bit harder for me than most people who know would ever think it to be, I am hopeful to step up my game and make it become somewhat a reality, if you know what I'm saying?!?! #StayTunedForNewUpdates

Cloud Nine

#TwoWeeksAway

I legitimately cannot wait for this unforgettable prom night experience to get here in the next couple of weeks!!! It has definitely become the highlight of the year as I get treated like royalty & just have the most amazing time ever with my best friends. I am grateful for the many remarkable volunteers who spent countless amount of time putting together such an awesome event for young adults with special needs. I have already purchased my dress for the event and look forward to walking elegant on the red carpet with my best friends as we enjoy a celebration of God's love for us!! #Stories2Come

Utah Miss Amazing - Jazz Night

I'm incredibly excited to watch my favorite professional basketball team LIVE and getting to have an opportunity of seeing them warm up prior to the game, is certainly gonna be a surreal moment. I'm thrilled to also be sharing this experience with the rest of my Miss Amazing representatives on this exciting night!!! I may or may not get the unforgettable chance of a lifetime to get photos taken with some of the people there and can only dream of what it would be like to do something that I know will never happen again for years to come!!! #ItsPrettyLegitimateStuff #SoTrue #iLoveThis

#NewPresentations2020

Ever since I joined the speakers network almost three years ago (in a few months) I am grateful for any kind of opportunity that I have to present on something new. It's definitely a good experience to share brand new messages of hope with so many people and letting them know that just because we are different from those around us--- doesn't quite necessarily mean we are not capable of realizing what others may perceive individuals with disabilities can do!!! I am definitely going to be reading through a lot of my new speech as I can possible and making certain that I can talk slow enough for people to understand what we are trying with them. #MySoCalledLife #UpdatesToBePostedLaterOn

Milestones (Part One)

#UVUInstituteClass

My twin sister and I started attending our adaptive needs institute class back in 2015--- which I will admit was one of the best decisions we ever made. It has been such a great experience for us to make new friendships with other people and learning as much as we can about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on this earth. We have enjoyed being able to feel the spirit every week and remember what we came here to do, regardless of how difficult life was going to be sometimes. It's really given me a lot of opportunities to share my thoughts and experiences about what it means to live righteously as well as remember who we truly are!!! I am so grateful for the gospel in my life more than anything else in this world and I am not even sure how I'd make it through any hard time without it. I know it is what has continuously kept me on the straight and narrow path, even though there are consistent bumps in the road that we deal with every once in awhile. #ShareGoodness

#DDCouncilMembership2020

I originally applied to be on this committee in the spring of last year, but when I unexpectedly won my pageant title with the Miss Amazing organization--- I had to put on my spot on hold for a year. I definitely look forward to being more of an advocate and getting paid along the way too... but I can't necessarily get my high hopes for this at all. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible organization and learning as much as possible about speaking up for myself, but as well as trying to make certain that young adults with disabilities have goals that are realistic. I am so excited about this new chapter in my life and whether or not it happens for me, I will just simply feel honored to have been given the privilege to do something that can impact this world. #ItsLegitimate

#MissQueenReign2019

It's truly been an absolute dream come true and cannot describe what an amazing experience it has turned out to be. I am truly grateful for the privilege it is to serve other people in anyway that I can possible and feeling like I was able to step out of my comfort zone, more than I usually ever would have imagined myself to do. When I heard my name called out as being the selected representative for this remarkable organization---I literally didn't know what to think or believe walking out onto the stage to receive my official title!!! I had never felt like pageantry was something I'd legitimately see myself do in this world, but it was most certain on my amazing bucket list and it has become an experience that I will hold close to my heart. #StayTunedForTheLegitimatePostAboutThisLaterOn

Hectic Times

2020 Census Training - Salt Lake City, Utah (Weekend)

I am definitely thrilled for this incredible opportunity as being part of the speakers network to learn some more information about the census is and how much it can impact the lives of individuals with disabilities. I am determined with trying my hardest throughout this new year to make sure everyone is aware of what this significantly means not only to somebody like me, but millions of other people most humans would see as not being capable to do anything---but let me tell you something else on here: "I will never sacrifice who I am in this world, because others have a problem with it." I am not like most people in this world who would much rather not have to deal with their struggles on a very regular basis, but I am grateful to know there is not a single person who feels like they should not be able to face their challenges head on with a smile. #MoreAboutThisLaterOn

LDS Insititute Class 2020 - Adaptive Needs

This has officially started up again for a new semester and have enjoyed almost every moment of it more than anything in the world. It has definitely reminded me of what is most important in my life every week and realizing that I am never alone in the trials or shortcomings I deal with. I'm grateful for the many blessings that continuously come into my life from living the gospel everyday and just recognizing the purpose I have on this earth. It has been such an incredible experience to share what continues to be so important in my life and remembering I can look to my Savior, Jesus Christ when ever I need to at any given moment.

Back To School (2 Days)

My post holiday break has officially ended-- but I am certainly anxious to get back over to the school and continue on with this remainder of the school year. I have missed all of my kiddos so much from when we left for the Christmas break and look forward to being with them again in a few days!! I am grateful for the relaxing two weeks I had to focus on what is most important during that time and just spending days with family was very much needed. I don't necessarily have much of anything like this to share with all of you today and can only hope for the best in whatever happens. #iLoveThirdGrade
